On May 24, 2026, as part of English Language Week, the Department of Foreign Languages hosted a round-table discussion titled "Women's Health is the Key to a Nation's Health and Well‑Being." The event brought together English‑language students, international students of Grodno State Medical University, their academic tutors, and the deputy deans of the Medical Faculty for International Students.

Held in English, the round table was dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman. Its aim was to enhance students' socio‑cultural and professional communicative competence by addressing topical issues in reproductive health, the role of women in contemporary society and healthcare, while also fostering intercultural dialogue between Belarusian and international students in the spirit of the thematic year.

The key objectives were:

  • to examine the social and medical dimensions of women's health in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals;
  • to strengthen students' public speaking and discussion skills in English;
  • to facilitate the socio‑cultural adaptation of international students and reinforce friendly ties within the academic community;
  • to highlight Belarus's achievements in women's health within the framework of the Year of the Belarusian Woman.

Students delivered engaging presentations that covered national healthcare policies on women's health, as well as cultural perspectives and societal attitudes toward women's health in their home countries. Participants represented India, the Republic of Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and the Republic of Belarus.

The presentations sparked genuine interest among students from different cultural backgrounds and led to a lively discussion. It was evident that the participants recognize the importance of women's health, are well‑informed with reliable scientific knowledge they are eager to share, and largely adhere to the core principles of a healthy lifestyle.

The goals and objectives of the event were successfully met. Students appreciated the opportunity to engage with peers from other cultures in this format. For Belarusian students in particular, the round table offered a valuable chance to apply their foreign‑language skills to professional topics.

Participants expressed interest in continuing similar exchanges in English on other subjects, such as medical education and healthcare.

We thank all students for their active participation!
