University Structure Departments Department of Pathological Physiology named after D.A. Maslakov Educational activities

As a result of the study of Pathophysiology a student

Must know:

- the basic concepts of general nosology;

- causes, mechanisms and outcomes of typical pathological processes;

- mechanisms of the disease and recovering;

- compensative mechanisms and possibilities of the correction of organs and body systems pathology;

- the role of experimental studies in the pathological science, their capabilities and limitations.

Must be able:

- to differentiate pathological and compensatory reactions during different organs and systems disorders;

- to give a hematological conclusion of typical forms of the blood pathology;

- to estimate the typical metabolic disorders, mechanisms of their development and degree of compensation;

- to reveal  the main forms of brain, cardiac, pulmonary, digestive, liver and kidney functional disorders according to clinical and laboratory research methods;

- to use the acquired pathophysiological knowledge in clinical education disciplines and in subsequent medical activities

Criteria for assessing knowledge

Criteria for assessing knowledge of current performance on a 10-point system at the Department of Pathological Physiology Named D. A. Maslacov

10 points – ten

• Complete and systematized knowledge on all issues of current topics;

• Knowledge of the interrelationships of the basic concepts of pathophysiology and pathology and their significance for the acquired profession;
• The use of knowledge of related disciplines, knowledge of additional literature, the manifestation of a steady ability to synthesize early knowledge obtained;
• The ability to accurately and creatively draw up pathogenesis patterns;
• When analyzing situational tasks, hemograms, hemostasiograms, the student made the correct conclusions, gave a deep analysis of the proposed situation, gave reasonable and complete answers to all questions;

• The student creatively and correctly performed all the tasks of the practical part of the lesson, showed the ability to work with animals, managed to conduct an experiment, correctly designed the study protocol, correctly interpreted clinical and laboratory research data;

• Ability to defend their point of view when conducting discussions, solving problems;

• Culture of behavior and communication with the teacher at a high and sustainable level.

9 points – nine

• Complete and systematized knowledge on all issues of current topics; but minor inaccuracies in the response and the drawing up of pathogenesis schemes were made, which were corrected independently after the teacher's remarks;

• The ability to think logically and to confirm the knowledge given correctly selected examples with reasonable conclusions;

• Accurate and competent use of scientific terminology on all issues of current topics;

• Rare (low, weak) use of knowledge of related disciplines and knowledge of additional literature, unstable ability to synthesize early knowledge gained;

• Correct and accurate use of and sufficient practical skills, unprincipled mistakes made;

• Minor errors in the design of the protocol and the formulation of conclusions, which are corrected after the teacher's comments. When analyzing situational tasks, hemograms, hemostasiograms, a correct analysis of the situation is given, but non-fundamental errors were made in the interpretation of laboratory data;

• Culture of behavior and communication with the teacher at a high and sustainable level.
