The Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy was established in 1961 – in 3 years after the Grodno State Medical Institute was founded (1958). The academic staff were A. N. Serebryakov, Prof., the Head of the Department, N. I. Simorot, Assoc. Prof., N. I. Zhandarov, Asst. Lecturer. The Department was located in Koshevogo Street. Later, the Department moved to 2/2 Gorkogo Street. From 2003 to 2017 the Department was in 3 Sverdlova Street. Since September, 2017 to date the Department occupies the new training facilities in 81 Gorkogo Street.
