Main research areas are demyelinisation diseases of the nervous system, neuroinfections in children, acute and chronic cerebrovascular pathology, brain trauma, cranioplasty. 3 Doctor's theses. More than 300 scientific works have been published, including 3 monographs. In the recent period 12 Candidate's theses have been defended at the Department.
Department Staff were elected as the administration of the Belarusian Society of Neurologists, were the lecturers of the Society “Znanie”.
The Department takes part in the work of the European Federation of neurology societies. Professors Y.Y. Gordeev, T.M. Shamova and S.D. Kulesh are the members of international expert groups of European Federation of neurology societies on multiple sclerosis, neuroophthalmology and stroke. International cooperation is being held with Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow), Medical Academy of Lyublin (Poland), Medical Faculty of the University of Vilnius (Lithuania).
