Scientific research interests at the Department are devoted to the study of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and comorbid state, features of clinical manifestations, modern methods of diagnosis and treatment.

Ph.D. theses are planned and carried out:

1. "Clinical and instrumental characteristics of autonomic supply of hemodynamics in men of military age with arterial hypertension of I-II degree" (Zayats A.N.). The study is devoted to the search for additional indicators of risk of hypertension, expert assessment of the health of men of military age.

2. "Clinical and prognostic value of obstructive sleep apnea / hypopnea syndrome in patients with atrial fibrillation" (Balabanovich T.I.). Research interests: arrhythmias and cardiac conduction in patients with sleep breathing disorders (obstructive sleep apnea / hypopnea syndrome), Central sleep apnea syndrome; atrial fibrillation associated with obstructive sleep apnea / hypopnea syndrome; modern diagnostic methods of sleep medicine (cardiorespiratory monitoring, polysomnography).

3. "Clinical and morphological characteristics and some biochemical aspects of the course of gastroesophageal reflux disease in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome" (Shelkovich Y.Y.). The study is devoted to the search for biomarkers of mucosal damage of the lower third of the esophagus in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and obstructive sleep apnea / hypopnea syndrome.

4. "Features of melatonin metabolism and possible ways of correction of the revealed violations in complex treatment of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease" (Karpovich O.A.). The study is devoted to the investigation of melatonin production in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease associated with obstructive sleep apnea / hypopnea syndrome and its role in disease development.

Since 2010 the scientific and practical conference "Grodno gastroenterological readings" has been held annually.
