In 1993 the first in the Republic of Belarus Faculty of Mental Health Medicine was established at the Grodno State Medical University. The aim of the Faculty was to train specialists in Mental Health Care.
The Department of Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy was organized in January 1995. It was located at the Grodno Region Psycho-Neurological Hospital.

In 1997 the Department moved to new clinical facilities – the Department of Neurotic Disorders (now Psycho-Neurological Department) at the City Hospital No. 3. The second clinical base is the Department of Borderline Personality Disorders at the Grodno Region Clinical Centre for Psychiatry and Drug Abuse Treatment.
