The 2nd Department of Surgical Diseases was founded in 1961 and was located in the surgical department of the Grodno Railway Hospital. The first head of the department was Professor S.M.Lutsenko, and first academic staff included only 5 university teachers.
The historical name of the department was the department of faculty surgery (1961 - 2000). In 2000, it was renamed the Department of Surgical Diseases No2 with a course of urology, and from 2012 - the 2nd Department of Surgical Diseases.
Currently, the 2nd Department of Surgical Diseases is located on two bases: Grodno сlinical Hospital of Emergency сare (surgical and burn departments) and Grodno regional clinical Hospital (urological department).
