International Competition for Performing a Song in Russian among Foreign Students “Music Unites Everyone”

The results of the International Competition for Performing a Song in Russian among Foreign Students “Music Unites Everyone”, which has been held for the third year at the Department of Russian and Belarusian Languages of the Grodno State Medical University, have been summed up.

This year, 79 creative teams from 6 universities of Belarus and Russia took part in the competition. Not only students of our university but also international students of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow), Kursk State Medical University (Kursk), Belarusian State University (Minsk), Belarusian State Medical University (Minsk), Belarusian State Technological University (Minsk) participated in the competition.

Musical compositions were performed by students with various levels of knowledge of the Russian language at the competition – from students of the preparatory department to students of the 5th year. But one thing united all the participants – their desire to get to know the culture of the country of the language they are learning, the country in which they will spend several years, as well as a deep understanding of the songs they perform.

All musical performances have been uploaded on the Youtube channel of the contest and received 47,928 views during the contest, which amounted to a total of 752,1 hours. Moreover, among the spectators were residents of 36 countries of the world: Belarus, Russia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Australia, India, Great Britain and many others. The number of channel subscribers has reached 1224, with 432 subscribers having subscribed to our channel in the last month. Many subscribers come back to listen to their favorite videos again and again and leave warm comments to the performers.

Moreover, Audience Choice Award won students of the 2^nd year, group 13 from GrSMU Varatharajan Niruban, Gunawardena Onali, Mohotti Savan, Don Nisal, Ranasinghe Bhagya, Senaratne Ganguli (“ Prosti menya, moya lubov”/ “Forgive me, my love”, lyrics and music by М. Fadeev).
