A Life-Changing Journey at Grodno State Medical University. Warnakulasuriya Fernando Rashina Shanani: "Grodno and Grodno State Medical University are a real home for students"

My name is Warnakulasuriya Fernando Rashina Shanani, a 6th-year medical student from Sri Lanka. My experience here has been nothing short of transformative, shaping not only my career but also my future in the most remarkable ways.

We live in a highly competitive world where every effort we make is measured and evaluated. I came to Grodno with a clear purpose and a dream to fulfill—a dream I am proud to say I have achieved. With the unwavering guidance of my professors and lecturers, I have authored multiple scientific papers, many of which have been published in esteemed international journals. I have also had the privilege of participating in university and international conferences as a speaker. One of my proudest accomplishments is earning the 1st Diploma at the XXXI Republican Competition of Scientific Works for Students, under the expert supervision of Assoc. Prof. Vasilevsky V.P. Additionally, I am honored to serve as a student reviewer for a well-respected American journal.

The support and mentorship we receive from the university staff and authorities of Dean’s office are truly exceptional. I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our success throughout this rigorous degree program. A special acknowledgment goes to Associate Prof. Stenko A.A., Dean of the International Students' Faculty—a true leader, mentor, teacher, and administrator. His door is always open to students, and he listens with patience and wisdom.

The training I received has been perfectly balanced between theory and hands-on clinical practice, providing an outstanding foundation for my future career. My passion lies in surgery, and I am profoundly grateful to the dedicated faculty of the Department of Surgical Diseases No. 1 for equipping me with the expertise and confidence to pursue this path.

Grodno is more than just a city—it is a welcoming home for students. The streets are safe, the locals are kind, and we, as international students, feel both protected and valued.

To aspiring medical students worldwide, I wholeheartedly recommend Grodno State Medical University without hesitation. This institution has not only shaped my professional journey but has also given me memories and skills that will last a lifetime.
