Kolawole Oluwatosin Miracle: “Living in Belarus and studying at GrSMU have become a wonderful chapter of my life!”

My name is Kolawole Oluwatosin Miracle, a 6th-year medical student of the Faculty of International Students, Group 4A, at Grodno State Medical University (GrSMU).
My journey at GrSMU has been nothing short of transformative. Over the years, I have actively immersed myself in the vibrant academic and extracurricular life of the university. I’ve participated in various university concerts – both singing and dancing – as well as numerous quiz and sports competitions at the faculty and inter-faculty levels. I also had the opportunity to compete in contests organized by the Scientific Quiz Club.
Some of my notable achievements include:
- Second Place, 2024 Faculty Week Darts Competition (Female Category)
- Second Place, 2024 Quiz “FreeTimeFun” as a member of Team Super Eagles (Nigeria)
- Second Place, 2025 Quiz Club of the Faculty of Foreign Students, as a member of Team “Second Place”
I’ve also proudly taken part in key events like the XXI Student Festival of National Cultures – 2023 (Alma Mater), where I represented my faculty in the Badminton Competition. I performed as a vocalist with the “Leather Jackets Band” during the 2024 and 2025 Faculty Weeks, and I danced during the 2024 Best Student Competition alongside my groupmate ‘Atheefa’ who took part in the competition.
Living in Belarus has truly been a beautiful chapter of my life. The people are warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. I’ve learned so much about Belarusian culture and have had the opportunity to connect with fellow international students from around the world. Medical school, of course, came with its fair share of challenges, but the support of my wonderful groupmates, encouraging lecturers, and the friendships I’ve formed made the journey lighter, deeply meaningful.
I chose GrSMU because of its longstanding reputation for producing highly skilled and competent medical professionals who go on to make meaningful contributions across the world. Additionally, Belarus is a remarkably peaceful and safe country, especially for international students. The hospitality, calmness, and sense of security here made it an ideal place for my academic and personal growth.
Among the most unforgettable moments of my university life was witnessing my first natural childbirth during an obstetrics rotation. The experience left me deeply emotional and reinforced my passion for medicine. Another unforgettable moment was serving as the assistant surgeon during a successful appendectomy on a bunny in the Department of Topographical Anatomy. The procedure was challenging, yet deeply rewarding, and it helped me appreciate the beauty and depth of medicine even more.
To the 2025 applicants, I say this:
You are about to step into one of the most defining seasons of your life. Embrace every lecture, every challenge, every new friendship. Stay curious, be kind, and never lose sight of the reason you chose this path. GrSMU will not only train your hands and mind but also shape your heart into that of a true healer. You belong here, and I wish you all the strength and joy on your journey ahead.
I also encourage you to engage in the vibrant extracurricular life at GrSMU once you’ve established a solid academic foundation. Build meaningful connections with the Dean, Vice Deans, and faculty members, and take time to truly experience the beauty and culture of Belarus. You’ve come to a new country – make the most of every opportunity it offers.
With Love,
Kolawole Oluwatosin Miracle.
