University Structure Academic departments 1-st Department of Surgical Diseases

The department teaches the course "Surgical diseases" to 4th, 5th and 6th year students of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Foreign Students. In order to ensure and improve the educational process, the staff of the 1st Department of Surgical Diseases regularly publishes educational and methodological materials. In particular, the following monographs have been published to date: "Surgical Treatment of Peptic Ulcer Disease", "Organ-Preserving Surgery of Peptic Ulcer Disease", "Mechanical Jaundice", "Pancreatic Cancer", "Surgery of Chronic Ischemia of the Lower Extremities of Atherosclerotic Genesis", "Chronic Duodenal Obstruction Combined with Diseases of the Hepatopancreatoduodenal Zone", "Surgical Treatment of Spontaneous Pneumothorax", "Surgery of the Aorta and Its Branches (Atlas and Guide)", "Surgery of Portal Hypertension"; teaching aids with the stamp of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus: "Clinical Surgery", "Practical Guide to Clinical Surgery (Diseases of the Abdominal Cavity and Peritoneum)", "Practical Guide to Clinical Surgery (Diseases of the Chest Organs, Vessels, Spleen and Endocrine Glands)".

In addition, 5 teaching aids without the stamp, more than 40 methodological recommendations for doctors and students have been published, clinical and educational cycles have been developed and implemented for surgeons in Grodno and the Grodno Region. Teaching surgical diseases is carried out using the most modern technical teaching aids. The department has created a standard film and slide library, an archive of X-ray, angio, MRI and CT images on film and digital media for each topic of practical classes. Test control of varying degrees of complexity is used to monitor the level of students' knowledge.

The department runs advanced training courses:

1. "Emergency and outpatient proctology" for surgeons, proctologists, oncologists-surgeons, and teachers of educational institutions of the healthcare system.

2. "Minimally invasive methods in surgery" for surgeons, thoracic surgeons, X-ray endovascular surgeons, vascular surgeons, and proctologists.
